Now that you’ve purchased your custom wig, you may be anxious to start wearing it out and showing it off. Who could blame you? Custom made wigs from AdventHair.com look amazing because they are fitted to your head and designed to your exact specifications. Before you take on the world, there are some helpful hints you should learn in order to keep your custom made wig looking as new as the day you bought it. Don’t panic – most of these steps are common sense, but some of them are things you probably didn’t realize you needed to do.
It goes without saying that you won’t be wearing custom made wigs at every moment of the day, especially if you own more than one wig. Because of this, you will absolutely need to learn about proper storage. To keep the shape of your wig, invest in a canvas or Styrofoam block that is roughly the shape and size of your head. When putting custom made wigs onto blocks, be sure the lace front edge isn’t folded under or bent. Leaving a wig on a block with the lace rolled under or folded in some way can lead to damaged lace.
A common misconception you hear is that you cannot wear hats with custom made wigs. Of course you can wear a hat! Sometimes the weather will require a hat, and sometimes you simply have a hat that will go great with your outfit. You do need to be careful, however. Hats that are too tight can matte your hair down and cause breakage and can ultimately ruin your hair. In order to alleviate this problem, make sure to comb out your custom made wig after each time you wear a hat. This will keep it soft and not matted.
Speaking of combing, regular combing is extremely important. Long custom made wigs can gather knots along the underside at the nape of the neck. In between each wearing, run a wide-tooth comb through the wig, no matter how you style it. Following this and the other steps will keep your wig looking fresh and tangle-free.
