Are you having trouble putting on your frontal hair attachment? No worries, you’re not alone! It’s no secret that front lace systems look great, but they can also be very tricky to attach correctly. Think about it, is it worth investing on a hair system without actually knowing how to properly use it? Luckily, this guide should orient you in the right direction.

Believe it or not, there is actually an easy way to use and even change the adhesive on the front of your hairpiece. If you haven’t heard about it, then you’ve been missing out - but, you have to start somewhere, right? Without further ado, welcome frontal hair attachment 101! Follow these easy steps and you'll become an expert!

We have to warn you though, the fact that we just called it an easy process doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take your time while doing it. As we’ve said many times before, you should plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of time to do this calmly. Don’t wait until the last minute to get on with it.

Step 1

Tape or glue your hairpiece as you would normally do, avoiding the frontal part for now. Give it a while and in the meantime get yourself a charcoal pencil or a discrete-colored marker. This might sound weird, but it will help you mark the spot where the lace naturally sits on your forehead and will allow you to use it as a guide when applying your adhesive.

Step 2

Once you’re done, flip the front of your hair system back so that the lace is facing you, and use hair clips to hold it on. Use as many clips as you need to make sure any hair is kept out of the way. If you don’t do this, then you risk getting your hair caught in glue and you’ll probably have to start all over again.

However, before you start applying the adhesive, make sure your scalp is completely clean. On the other hand, if you’re looking to change the adhesive on your frontal side instead of applying glue for the first time, then grab your favorite solvent and apply it directly to your hairline. Remember to get the nozzle as close as possible to the edges of your hairpiece in case you are using spray. Once applied, give the solvent a few minutes and then prep your scalp to get your adhesive on.

Step 3

Now that you have a clean canvas to work with, we can get to the attachment steps. For better results, place some scotch tape where you made your markings to outline where you adhesive should be placed. This way, you'll have a better working space that will prevent any kind of mess, especially if you’re using glue! Just make sure to really press it so the adhesive doesn’t seep through.

Keep in mind that this process can be applied for tapes as well. 

Step 4

Now it's time to go ahead and apply the first coat of your favorite adhesive. If you don’t have one yet, you can go ahead and check out Advent Hair’s line of liquid adhesives. They have a large variety of adhesives you can choose from.

Now, make sure you apply an even coat all over your frontal hair area and give it around a minute or two for it to become clear or tacky. 

Step 5

Apply a second coat following the same steps as you did with the first one. To get a really good bond, you might have to re-do this two or three times, depending on the adhesive. The best way to figure this out is simply by trial and error - once you are a bit more acquainted with the adhesive you’re applying on your head, it won’t hurt anyone! Effects usually vary from person to person, depending on what they feel comfortable with or how much time you want the bond to last.

Step 6

Once your done with the coats, you can remove the scotch tape from your forehead as neatly as possible. Get rid of your hair clips and bring down your frontal lace very slowly. It should be a perfect fit! You can pad it down with your fingers or with the back of a brush to be extra sure it stuck well to your scalp.

Step 7

Use a solvent to get rid of any excess glue (if any) and style your hair as you please. And that’s it! An easy, mess-free process to attach your frontal hair system.
