We have all seen commercials for hair transplantation. The results we see look nice, obviously, but the downfalls aren’t highlighted in the advertisements. First of all, there is the high cost. A hair transplant surgery can cost anywhere between $4,000 and $15,000! This is a considerable amount more than non surgical hair replacement options that are offered through hair replacement systems.
Then, there are the side effects. As with any surgery, there are risks and you should take them very seriously before considering this type of operation. There is a possibility for infection of the follicle, bleeding, and the chance to get folliculitis, which is the inflammation of the follicle. All of these can be overcome with antibiotics, but then there are the major issues that can occur that aren’t so easy to fix.
There is a chance you can suffer from scarring and abnormal looking hair growth, which poses a whole new set of cosmetic issues. There is also the off chance that you can be affected by “Shock Loss”, which is the loss of hair. With non surgical hair replacement options, you would spend a fraction of the cost of a surgery without all the risk and worry. Before undergoing any cosmetic surgery, be sure to analyze all the risks so you can make an informed decision.
