Using Hairpiece Tape

If you are wearing a hair piece, you can easily attach it to your scalp with properly selected toupee tape. Tapes are available for extended wear as well as daily wear and both types will provide the security that you are looking for. Using the proper tape will provide you with the security of knowing that no one will know that you are wearing a hair piece. To ensure a strong attachment, you should prepare your scalp properly.

Scalp Preparation

Remove any remaining residue of hair tape adhesive from the scalp using a citrus or alcohol-based adhesive remover. Rub the area vigorously until all traces of the residue are removed.  Shampoo your own hair and hair piece thoroughly.  You should also remove hair from your head where the tape will be positioned. Use an electric screen razor, if necessary. Optionally, you could apply Scalp Protector to your scalp to remove any remaining perspiration.

Attach Hair Piece Securely Using Hair Piece Tape

Step 1: Remove the paper from one side of the tape and affix the sticky side to the polyurethane tape tab on the underside of your hair piece.  If the pre-cut contours don't align with the curvature of your base, you'll need to trim them to fit more precisely. Try to place the tape as close as possible to the outer edge, being careful to not extend beyond the edges. Press the tape down firmly to ensure complete contact. Once this is done, remove the backing of the strips to expose the sticky side of the tape.

Step 2: Now place the hair piece carefully onto your head. Optionally, you could apply Positioning Spray to your scalp to allow you time to gently slide it into the proper position. Once you are pleased with the alignment, apply pressure to the outer edges to ensure that the tape has solid contact to your scalp. Now you can style your hair as per your liking.

Step 3: Apply some leave-in conditioner to your hair piece to allow the hair to stay supple and soft.  Conditioners are available for human and synthetic fiber, so choose what is best suited for your hair type.
