Hairpieces for men and women can be securely attached in a number of different ways.
Four of the most well known techniques are:
Clips
You can find hair clips in a number of sizes. The most popular types are guillotine clips. Clips can be arranged and sewn anywhere needed on a wig or hairpiece. Several clips attached to the outer edge of the hairpiece should suffice for a secure and worry-free attachment. Note that your surrounding hair should be thick to allow the clips to hold well.
Micro Point
This type of hairpiece attachment is utilized to attach hairpieces by using a minimal amount of adhesive or in most instances, no adhesive. The hair system is positioned on the head, then small segments of the client's surrounding hair are twisted together, looped through the outer edge of the hair system and pinched using a special crimping tool. As the natural hair grows, the micro points must be removed and re-crimped to secure the hairpiece to the head. This may be time consuming and is best left to a trained technician. Unfortunately, with this method the system may move after a while as the hair grows. This attachment method is most common for attaching integration bases where the outer edge is a single strand of braided polyester.
Tapes
This type of hairpiece adhesion is simple and easy. Tapes should only be used on the inside outer edge of your hairpiece to secure it to the bare skin. There are many varieties of tape to select from, lasting from 1 day to 3 weeks of hold! The longest holding tape is known as bonding tape. Tape is easy to remove without needing any adhesive remover.
Medical Grade Adhesives
This method is perfect for those who desire to leave their hairpiece or wig on for 1+ weeks. Many types of adhesives are available and they can be used for perimeter bonding and full head bonding. Some adhesives are even waterproof.
