Washing & Hygiene

The most important factor in the smell and maintenance of your hair system is hygiene. You must regularly wash your hairpiece to avoid unpleasant smells. Appropriate washing and hygiene habits can even help to prevent bad smells in the first place.

It is also important that you know how to store your hairpiece when you are not wearing it. You must make sure that the hairpiece is completely dry before folding it and storing it in a box or packet. If you do not dry your hair system fully before storing it, it will end up with a damp musty smell when you take it out of storage. A quick and easy storage tip is to place a dryer sheet inside of your hairpiece before folding it into a box. This technique will allow you to enjoy a fresh hair piece each time you want to use it. Hygiene is a huge step in preventing odors from forming in your hairpiece - fixing a problem before it even starts.

Ensuring All Growing Hair is Dry

It’s amazing how many things baking soda can be used for- in this case it can be used to neutralize nasty odors and serve as a softener for synthetic hair. A two-for-one trick! There are two ways to implement this tip into your hairpiece hygiene routine - you can either add a teaspoon of baking soda to your hair system washing mixture, or fully dilute a few teaspoons in your sink and let the hair system to soak for 10-30 minutes.
