Swimming with a Hair Replacement Pt. 2

Earlier this month, we talked about some ways for hair system wearers to swim confidently. We completely understand feelings of trepidation when it comes to swimming with a hair system. While there may be a small risk of causing damage to your hair system, if you take all the proper precautions beforehand, you will be able to swim and splash and not worry about your hair system.

One method to try if you are extremely worried about wearing your hairpiece while swimming is wearing a swimming cap. A swimming cap will both keep your hair system in place and protect it from chlorine or salt water. First, put on a shower cap for an extra layer of protection. Then, carefully stretch the swimming cap over the shower cap. Tuck any stray hair under the swimming cap and you’re good to go.

Make sure you know if your hair system is made of synthetic or human hair. Synthetic hair cannot handle heat well, so keep that in mind if you plan on being out in the sun for a long period of time. Human hair handles heat much better, but it also may be more susceptible to damage caused by chlorine and salt water. Be sure to take these facts into consideration before you head to the pool or beach. Have fun!
