Selecting the Perfect Hairpiece: 3 Important Considerations

While anyone can certainly enjoy the benefits of using a hair replacement system, the saying, “everything isn’t for everyone” certainly applies when making a specific choice in selecting the perfect hairpiece. What could be a perfectly beautiful or handsome hair piece on a mannequin or on someone else may not be the best fit for you, for a host of reasons.

Consider these 3 important factors when choosing that perfect hairpiece for you:

- Pricing

The last thing that you would want to invest in is a low-quality, cheap, hair replacement system. The prices for a quality hair piece can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, however, some may not be willing or able to afford this. See what your options are online. A good online hair replacement system shop will have quality hair pieces at better prices than many local shops as well as a satisfaction guarantee. If you are using a hair replacement system due to a health condition, talk to your doctor and insurance company about possible insurance reimbursement.

- Your Face Shape

When choosing a hair system, consider your face shape so your hairpiece will accentuate your features instead of contrasting or clashing against it. If you have a wide or round face, look for styles that will elongate your face, such as a wig cut with long layers or side swept bangs. If you have an oval face, for instance, you can try a wig cut in a sophisticated bob to show off your cheekbones. Men, when deciding on the perfect hairpiece, should consider in which direction that you would like your hair to be combed. Something as subtle as that and possibly easily overlooked can do a great deal for a person’s face - positively or negatively.  If you have an oblong or rectangle shaped face, avoid a hairpiece that would give the appearance of a very short haircut.

- Human Hair or Synthetic?

While most synthetic hair pieces may be a little easier on your wallet than a human hair piece, synthetic hair pieces may also give your hair replacement system away. In most cases it would be best to opt for a hair piece with human hair in order to have the most natural look possible. Try an online store to find better prices and selections than you most likely would find locally for a human hairpiece. If you are not the best at maintaining hair however, maybe synthetic wigs are the option for you. Compared to human hairpieces, synthetic hairpieces are easier to clean and maintain and may last longer. Also, you could consider a human hair-synthetic blend hair piece for a little bit of both features.
