Taking care of your mane involves more than using the right shampoo, conditioner and styling products. In fact, your hair grows an average of inch every month, and the nutrients needed for hair growth come from the foods we eat. Next time you're hungry, think of your hair and bite into some of these hair healthy foods.

  • Salmon, flaxseeds, walnuts, and sardines are jam packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which supports a healthy scalp. When your body isn't getting enough omega-3 fatty acids your scalp can become dry, giving your hair a dull look.
  • Chicken, turkey, beef, eggs, cottage cheese, milk and yogurt, are all packed with an important hair health necessity - protein! Without enough protein your hair becomes brittle and can even lose its color.
  • Turkey, egg yolks, dried fruit, dried beans, whole grains, and lean red meat will provide your hair and body with the iron it needs to remain healthy. Low iron levels can lead to baldness.
  • Strawberries, oranges, blueberries and blackberries are all great sources of antioxidants, which protect hair against damage from the sun.
  • Water, there's more than one reason doctors recommend we drink 8 glasses of water a day. If you don't drink enough your hair can start to feel like straw.

If you suffer from hair loss or dry unhealthy hair try increasing your daily intake of the appropriate foods. You can learn more about hair loss, hair replacement systems and other hair systems at AdventHair.com.
