We all know curly hair hairpieces look awesome, but let's face it, taking care of them can be exhausting: they easily lose their texture, and get all frizzy and dry super fast.

But that doesn't mean you should stop wearing your awesome curly hairpiece, you just need to take extra special care of it to maintain its curls and its awesome looks. And that's what today's entry is all about! It's no secret that curly hair is high maintenance, ask anyone with naturally curly hair and they'll tell you. And the same exact thing applies to curly hairpieces.

After a couple months of use, you'll notice that they start losing their shine and luster after just a couple of days of wear. Don't worry, this is totally normal, and more importantly, incredibly easy to fix. So don't go around doing something drastic like throwing your two-month-old wigs and hairpieces to the garbage bin!

Restoring your curly hair hairpiece:

1. Place your hairpiece on the sink and get it all wet with cold water only. If you want to part your hair, the best time to do it is while the hair is soaking wet, so grab your favorite hairpiece comb and get to parting your hair while you can.

2. Shampoo your hairpiece with your favorite hairpiece shampoo. Our recommendation? Euro Novelle's Clarifying Shampoo is excellent at cleaning both the hair and the cap. Specially formulated for the deep cleansing of a human hair hairpieces, it will remove all sebum and dandruff while also leaving the hair super conditioned, with a great new shine. This is what salons use in the 'back room' to condition and clean your system. Now you can do the same from the comfort and privacy of your home.

3. Get a hold of your conditioner of choice and go ahead and apply some on your hairpiece after rinsing off the shampoo from the last step. Use an amount of conditioner proportional to the amount and density of the hair on your hairpiece. Run your hand from the top down to make sure you coat every single strand of hair. Now, take the same comb you used to part your hairpiece and comb your hairpiece from the top down to ensure that the conditioner is evenly distributed.

If you ask us, you can't go wrong with RemySoft's Glam Rocker Recovery Cream: it's a sulfate-free, color-safe conditioner that works wonders on tangled and dry hair.

4. Your hair should look stringy right now. DO NOT leave it like this, as this is what eventually causes your hair to frizz. Make sure to comb it with your favorite hairpiece brush. Running a brush through your hair not only smoothens it, but it also clumps your curls together, giving your hairpiece that lovely appearance we're going for. If you're missing a brush, check out RemySoft's 123 Loops Brush, it easily glides through your hair and removes tangles without the worry of snagging on your bonds, bases or natural hair strands.

5. This step might sound weird at first but bear with us. Take a grocery plastic bag and place your still wet hairpiece inside it. Now let it set in the bag for about half an hour. This helps deep-condition the hairpiece and return it to its former glory and shine.

6. Now go ahead and rinse out the hair. Now's a good time to brush your hair again if you feel like the first time wasn't enough. Just squeeze the water out of your hairpiece with your bare hand, but remember, never ever pull on it in any way or form, just grab strands of hair and clench your fist around them to get all the water out.

7. Spray your favorite leave-in conditioner a couple of times on the hairpiece, and place it on a dry towel. Let it rest on the tower for about an hour to get rid of all the excess water. Not sure which leave-in conditioner to use? Check our collection out! There's one for every type of hair you can possibly think of.

8. Almost done! Place your hair system on a styrofoam or mannequin head and let it air dry overnight.

And there you have it! Your hairpiece should be 100% dry by now and it should look just as good as when you originally bought it, if not better!
